Meet Katie - Owner, Physio & Yoga Guide
A little about Katie & what brought her to Flow Studio…
I wanted to create a space Torbay and the surrounding South Devon that offers ways we can feel better, live better and move more easily, with less pain, less stress and a greater sense of time
I qualified with a BSc(Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham in 2007. I then moved to Torquay and I feel privileged to now call it home. I worked as a rotational Physiotherapist to a senior level within the NHS in South Devon; gaining experience in a wide range of core areas, from Trauma and Orthopaedics to Pain Management Physio, before specialising in musculoskeletal conditions.
In 2012/13 I completed my APPI Pilates Matwork Series & subsequent Ante/Postnatal, HIIT & Ostepoporosis Pilates training. These trainings complimented my physiotherapy clinical practice perfectly & led me to want to do more to support people in being healthy & feeling strong & capable before injuries occurred
In 2016 I completed the 200 hour Strala Yoga Ready to Guide training in London, then followed this with the 300 hour Advanced training in July 2017 in New York. Both these experiences offered me an amazing sense of support in what I was creating here in Devon. During the training we incorporated Tai Chi and Shiatsu, which both resonated with my style of physio in using touch in a positive and kind way for the body and treating you as a whole.
I am passionate about supporting people finding ease in their lives. We want to support you in finding ways to nourish your whole self and feel strong, calm and ready to live your full life.
This philosophy has helped me hugely, not just in running and growing Flow, but also in my hobbies. In 2016 we completed an Ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride then a marathon, 26.2 miles). The aim was to explore how we can do even big things with ease, using yoga/pilates and mindfulness to support us. It worked and I am proud to be able to give people confidence in moving how feels good and no longer focussing on feeling like you have ‘done something
