Beginner’s Yoga / Pilates Classes

We often are asked which classes are suitable for beginners & I will always say “all & any”. There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, because you are only a true ‘beginner’ for such a short period of time & secondly because our base level varies so much from person to person, so we don’t want you to be caught in the mindset of a beginner, nor finding a class you enjoy then having to find a different one because you’re no longer a beginner.

Yoga, Pilates & Barre are all focussed around connecting with your body, learning how it moves & how to move it. We are all different shapes & sizes, with different jobs, hobbies & postures, so what is ‘easy’ for one person, may be harder for another. The basic principles of Pilates are discussed regularly during classes & the cues in Barre & guidance in yoga lead you through the class with constant support & check-ins

Our studio is led by Chartered Physiotherapists (all our Pilates classes are physio led), so you are in safe hands. We have an amazing team of guides who are experts in their fields & are able to tweak the classes to suit who is attending. It’s subtle, but a class with a ‘beginner’ in will be guided slightly differently

We work hard to support everyone’s journey, whether you are a regular or new to Flow Studio, we will offer something for everyone in the class. Think of a class a bit like a cake. There’s the main ingredients, then there’s the optional bits you can add or take away. These optional bits, the sprinkles & the icing, are up to you - another important reason why we don’t label classes ‘Beginners Yoga or Advanced Pilates’… because some days we might feel like we need a little spice in our movement & some days we might just want to really tune in to the basics

We have lots of videos as part of Flow Connected, our online, on-demand classes, including introductions to basics such as Pilates Principles, for you to enjoy in your own time in your own home. You can sign up for a 14 day free trial for Flow Connected here. If you are new to the studio & don’t know what class to attend, then we offer a £15 week unlimited intro pass to enable you to explore a variety of classes & see which one feels good for you. You can always mix it up tho, we run a self-booking platform, Instabook, so you might fancy Barre one week, Pilates the next or even a yoga class

Whether you are joining us online, or at our dedicated studio in Torquay, please know that you are always welcome, even as a beginner!
